The KLTW Group is a collective of highly experienced forensic Firearm and Toolmark Examiners dedicated to mentoring, shaping, and leading the next generation of forensic science professionals through Knowledge, Learning, Teaching, and Writing. Our pro bono services are available to both college students as well as new or existing forensic scientists. We offer general career advice and guidance, assistance preparing research for journal submissions, and can help navigate the challenges of becoming more involved and engaged in the forensic community. Any discussions with us can be considered a judgment-free zone in which we engage in a casual, friendly, and open manner. All conversations will be confidential.

The women who represent the KLTW Group have been elected to forensic science Board of Directors positions, have sat on and chaired numerous committees, conducted and published research, and served on the OSAC Firearm and Toolmark Subcommittee.

Testimonials

“The KLTW ladies have been amazing mentors of mine over the past few years. They are empathetic and relatable, but are wise and offer thoughtful and constructive questions and advice. Their assistance in career advancement and leadership development have been invaluable.

I appreciate and relate to their perspective as Women Leaders, but their services would benefit all gender identities. I enjoyed their workshop titled “Forensic Scientist to Forensic Leader,” the content from which I refer to regularly. With their experience in science, supervising, leadership, mentoring, business, and teamwork, I highly recommend the KLTW Group’s services without reservation!”

“I’ve been fortunate to know the ladies of KLTW Group over my career but recently I was able to benefit from their services. I was at a critical point in my career where I needed mentorship. The KLTW ladies listened to my situation and my apprehensions regarding my career path.  They offered thoughtful and poignant advice along with highlighting similar situations they had been through throughout their careers. As a group we were able to come up with actionable items that gave me a positive path forward.

By the end of my appointment, I felt confident and secure in the career path I had chosen! I cannot wait for the opportunity to attend their workshop int the future!”

"I've had the privilege of collaborating with the KLTW ladies on various standards and professional committees over the past decade. One consistent theme I've observed is their unwavering passion for the firearm and toolmark discipline, as it continues to grow and evolve. Although I am not a firearm examiner, I have relied on their expertise to help me navigate the many complexities of the field. They have always been patient, humble, and generous with their knowledge—qualities I deeply value. Whether you're seeking career guidance or technical assistance, I can confidently say that the KLTW ladies will be an invaluable resource for you."

"I have had the opportunity to interact professionally with each member of the KLTW group. Each individual has demonstrated exceptional leadership in forensic science, both within their own laboratories and through their contributions to the broader scientific community. The unique perspectives and collective experience of the KLTW group provide a remarkable mentorship resource for aspiring professionals."
